PABPN1 pseudogene 1 (PABPN1P1) is a non-protein coding genomic sequence related to the functional PABPN1 gene, which encodes Poly(A) binding protein nuclear 1—a key regulator of mRNA polyadenylation and processing[1][5]. As a pseudogene, PABPN1P1 does not encode a functional protein and has no documented biological or clinical significance. In contrast, mutations in the functional PABPN1 gene cause Oculopharyngeal Muscular Dystrophy, and PABPN1 itself regulates mRNA stability, export, and turnover, and is being studied as a cancer biomarker[2][4][6]. PABPN1P1 is important only for genomic annotation and may occasionally be noted in regulatory or evolutionary studies, but it is not relevant as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or drug-interacting molecule.
