PABPN1 pseudogene 2 (PABPN1P2) is a processed pseudogene related to the PABPN1 (polyadenylate-binding nuclear protein 1) gene, which encodes a key nuclear protein involved in messenger RNA polyadenylation, export, and quality control. Pseudogenes such as PABPN1P2 do not produce functional proteins and are generally not considered functional molecular targets, therapeutic targets, or disease-relevant biomarkers. As such, there are no known biological functions, disease associations, interacting drugs, or mechanisms of action for PABPN1P2. The canonical therapeutic target related to this pseudogene is PABPN1 (polyadenylate-binding nuclear protein 1, also known historically as PABP2 or OPMD protein). PABPN1 is involved in polyadenylation, mRNA export, and post-transcriptional regulation and is implicated in oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy (OPMD) when mutated. However, none of these functions apply to the PABPN1P2 pseudogene, which lacks coding and regulatory function. Therefore, PABPN1P2 should NOT be considered a druggable target, receptor, enzyme, or transporter.
