Pancreatic beta cell replacements are therapeutic strategies aimed at restoring or replacing the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas, primarily for the treatment of diabetes, especially type 1 diabetes. These approaches seek to re-establish endogenous insulin production and maintain normal blood glucose levels in patients whose own beta cells have been destroyed or are dysfunctional.
