Pancreatic lipase-related protein 3 (PNLIPRP3) is a human enzyme encoded by the PNLIPRP3 gene, related to the broader family of pancreatic lipases that play roles in lipid metabolism and digestion[1][5][7]. It is a paralog of other pancreatic lipases such as PNLIPRP1 and PNLIP, sharing high sequence homology with these proteins[1][5]. PNLIPRP3 is predicted to exhibit carboxylic ester hydrolase and triacylglycerol lipase activities and is believed to act in the extracellular region, contributing to the breakdown of dietary triacylglycerols during digestion[5][1]. While its exact physiological substrates and unique roles remain less well characterized compared to canonical pancreatic lipase (PNLIP) and PNLIPRP2, PNLIPRP3 is classified among enzymes facilitating lipid catabolism. It has not been widely implicated as a primary therapeutic or disease target and there are currently no established drugs or biomarkers directly related to PNLIPRP3 in clinical use or research[5][1][4].
