Papillary thyroid carcinoma susceptibility candidate 1 (PTCSC1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located at chromosome 8q24, identified through genetic linkage and association studies as a susceptibility locus for papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC)[1][3][4]. PTCSC1 itself does not encode a protein but may function as a tumor suppressor RNA and is implicated in the regulation of gene expression related to thyroid carcinogenesis[3][1]. Variants at the PTCSC1 locus are associated with increased risk of PTC and possibly with susceptibility to other cancers[3]. PTCSC1 is not considered a canonical therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, and there are currently no known drugs that directly interact with it. It serves as a putative biomarker for genetic risk in PTC[3][1].
