PAQR9 antisense RNA 1 (PAQR9-AS1)

Target
PAQR9-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA, Antisense RNA
01

Overview

PAQR9 antisense RNA 1 (PAQR9-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene located on human chromosome 3. It is transcribed from the DNA strand opposite to the PAQR9 gene, and as an antisense RNA, it may modulate the expression of PAQR9 via RNA-RNA interactions or genomic regulation. There is currently no evidence indicating that PAQR9-AS1 is directly implicated as a therapeutic target, nor are there described functions, disease associations, or drug interactions specific to this lncRNA in the published literature[1][4][6][11][12]. While antisense RNAs as a class can have roles in gene regulation, specific functional annotation for PAQR9-AS1 remains lacking. Note: There may be confusion with PAQR9 (progestin and adipoQ receptor family member 9), a membrane progestin receptor involved in steroid signaling, but PAQR9-AS1 itself is not a receptor or protein-coding gene[3][4][7][10].
