Paracrine-mediated angiogenesis

Molecular classification
Pathway, Signaling pathway
01

Overview

Paracrine-mediated angiogenesis refers to the process by which new blood vessels form from pre-existing vasculature, driven by the secretion of soluble factors (paracrine signals) from one cell type that act on neighboring cells—most notably endothelial cells—to stimulate angiogenic responses. Key mediators include VEGF, HGF, bFGF, Angiopoietins, and Interleukins. This mechanism is central in tissue repair, regeneration, and pathological conditions such as tumor growth. Therapies may use either whole-cell approaches leveraging their secretome/paracrinally active products or purified/recombinant forms/EV-based delivery systems mimicking this natural process.
