Overview

Paracrine signaling via growth factor secretion refers to a *cellular communication process* in which cells secrete growth factors, cytokines, or peptides into the local extracellular environment. These signaling molecules diffuse a short distance to neighboring cells, where they bind to specific cell surface receptors (commonly receptor tyrosine kinases) and activate signaling cascades that regulate cell behavior. These pathways play critical roles in *development, tissue regeneration, wound healing, and disease processes such as cancer* through regulation of proliferation, differentiation, and survival of target cells[4][5][6]. The term does not refer to a single molecule or receptor, so it is not considered a canonical therapeutic target[1][6].
