Parainfluenza virus type 3 (HPIV-3) is a member of the Paramyxoviridae family and a significant cause of respiratory tract infections, particularly in infants, young children, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals. It spreads via respiratory droplets and is associated with illnesses such as bronchiolitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia. There is currently no approved vaccine.
