Target intelligence / Profile preview
Paraneoplastic antigen-like protein 8B (PNMA8B) is a member of the PNMA family of proteins, which are recognized as neuronal antigens associated with paraneoplastic syndromes, although PNMA8B itself remains poorly characterized. It is a protein-coding gene found primarily in the cytoplasm of specific tissues including the central nervous system and adrenal gland, but its precise biological function is not clearly defined. Paralogous with PNMA8A, it shares homology with other PNMA proteins, which have documented roles in apoptosis and neuronal cell death, especially in the context of autoimmunity and paraneoplastic syndromes. There is currently no evidence describing PNMA8B as a therapeutic target, nor are there known interacting drugs, well-defined mechanisms of action, or established roles as a biomarker[4][5][9].
