Target intelligence / Profile preview
Paraoxonase 2 (PON2) is an intracellular enzyme and a member of the paraoxonase gene family. It is ubiquitously expressed and acts as a cellular antioxidant, protecting cells from oxidative stress. It also hydrolyzes acyl-homoserine lactones, disrupting bacterial quorum sensing. PON2 is implicated in cardiovascular protection, neuroprotection, and cancer.
Inhibition of bacterial quorum sensing via acyl-homoserine lactone hydrolysis; Reduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels.
