Overview

The parathyroid hormone 2 receptor (PTH2R) is a member of the class B (type II) G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family. The primary endogenous ligand for PTH2R is tuberoinfundibular peptide of 39 residues (TIP39). Human PTH can activate human PTH2R but not rodent orthologs. PTH2R is highly expressed in specific regions of the brain and in the pancreas. It is involved in neuroendocrine regulation, modulates stress response, nociception, calcium transport, and wound healing. It is coupled primarily to Gs proteins, activating adenylyl cyclase, which increases cAMP.
