Paraventricular nucleus (PVN) neurons are a diverse population of neuroendocrine and autonomic neurons located in the hypothalamus. They play a central role in regulating stress, metabolism, growth, reproduction, immune responses, cardiovascular function, and fluid balance. PVN neurons are not directly targeted by drugs, but their activity is modulated by drugs that affect hormone receptors or neurotransmitter systems that influence PVN neuron firing.
