PARK7P1 (PARK7 pseudogene 1) is a human pseudogene with sequence similarity to the protein-coding gene PARK7 (Parkinsonism-associated deglycase, also called DJ-1). Unlike PARK7, PARK7P1 does not encode a functional protein and is not involved in any known cellular processes, disease mechanisms, or therapeutic pathways. Pseudogenes are generally considered non-functional remains of genes and are not tractable drug targets. All known research and therapeutic interest is focused on the protein-coding PARK7 gene itself and its encoded protein DJ-1, which is involved in oxidative stress response, neurodegeneration, and some cancers[1][2][3][5]. There is no evidence that PARK7P1 participates in these or any other biological processes. Note: If your intent was the protein-coding PARK7 gene or DJ-1 protein, those are established molecular targets, and further information would be available for those entities. However, PARK7P1 is a pseudogene and does not function as a molecular target.
