These substances often function by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory mediators like tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukins, as well as reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins by targeting enzymes like COX-2 (Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy, 2019). Because it represents a broad physiological outcome resulting from multi-target interactions, pathogenic heat elimination cannot be localized to a single protein or biological molecule. Mechanism of action

Pathogenic heat elimination is achieved through the inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g., TNF-alpha, IL-1 beta, IL-6), reduction of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) activity, and modulation of the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis to regulate body temperature (PubMed: 28214333; PMC: 5313431).
