Therapeutic mechanisms vary widely and include the direct neutralization of pathogens, inhibition of microbial replication (e.g., cell wall or protein synthesis inhibition), depletion of B-cells to reduce autoantibody production, and competitive inhibition of autoantibody binding to self-antigens.
