Patient self-monitoring is a healthcare intervention and behavioral process where patients regularly measure and record their own physiological data to manage chronic health conditions. Common examples include the use of glucometers for diabetes management, automated cuffs for hypertension, and portable coagulometers for monitoring anticoagulation therapy. While these practices are fundamental to modern clinical care and significantly improve patient outcomes by providing real-time data for treatment adjustments, patient self-monitoring is not a biological molecule, receptor, enzyme, or transporter.
