PAXIP1 antisense RNA 1 (PAXIP1-AS1, also annotated as PAXIP1 divergent transcript or PAXIP1-DT) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed in an antisense orientation to the PAXIP1 gene. It is not a protein, receptor, enzyme, or a classical druggable target, but rather a regulatory RNA molecule. Functions attributed to PAXIP1-AS1 include facilitating cell invasion and angiogenesis in glioma, at least partly via recruitment of the transcription factor ETS1 and upregulation of KIF14 expression. While PAXIP1 protein is well studied in the regulation of DNA repair and chromatin accessibility, PAXIP1-AS1's emerging roles are primarily in cancer biology, particularly in the regulation of pathways promoting malignancy and tumor vascularization, highlighting its importance as a potential marker or effector in tumor progression[5][3].
