Overview

PBX homeobox 2 pseudogene 1 (PBX2P1) is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 3 (3q24). It is classified as a member of the TALE class homeobox pseudogenes because it shares sequence homology with the PBX family of transcription factors but lacks the ability to encode a functional protein. PBX2P1 does not participate in biological processes or serve any known medical or therapeutic function. It should not be confused with PBX2 (pre-B-cell leukemia transcription factor 2), which is an active transcription factor involved in gene regulation and disease. The presence of PBX2P1 is mainly of genomic or evolutionary interest. *Note: If your query was intended to refer to the functional PBX2 protein or gene (“pre-B-cell leukemia transcription factor 2”), see PBX2, which is a DNA-binding transcription factor implicated in cancer and development[1][2][3][7].*
