PCBP2 pseudogene 4 (PCBP2P4) is not a protein-coding gene and does not have known biological function, disease association, or drug interaction. It is a processed pseudogene, a nonfunctional DNA segment derived from the parental PCBP2 gene. Pseudogenes generally arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and typically lack the regulatory elements or protein-coding capacity needed for standard gene activity. Most functional and disease-relevant information pertains to PCBP2—the parental gene—and not to its pseudogenes. PCBP2 itself is a multifunctional RNA-binding protein involved in mRNA stabilization, translational regulation, and antiviral response, but these attributes do not apply to PCBP2P4.
