PCCA antisense RNA 1 (PCCA-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the genome in the opposite (antisense) orientation to the PCCA gene locus. Like other antisense lncRNAs, it may have regulatory effects on its sense gene (PCCA) through mechanisms such as transcriptional interference, splicing modulation, or RNA stability modulation, although no specific functions or disease associations have been validated for PCCA-AS1. Antisense lncRNAs are an emerging class of regulatory RNAs that play diverse roles in gene expression, but only a limited number, such as those with proven functions or disease associations, are considered therapeutic targets at present[1][3].
