Overview

PCDH9 antisense RNA 2 (PCDH9-AS2) is a long non-coding antisense RNA gene located on chromosome 13, transcribed in the opposite direction to the protein-coding PCDH9 gene[2][4][6][7]. It does not encode a protein. Instead, it is predicted to regulate PCDH9 expression through cis-regulatory mechanisms, which may in turn influence the biological functions of the PCDH9 protein in cell-cell adhesion, formation of cell junctions, and neuronal connectivity[2]. Despite these predicted roles, the exact biological functions of PCDH9-AS2, and any direct involvement in disease, remain to be fully elucidated[2]. There are currently no reported drugs that target PCDH9-AS2, and it is not considered a canonical therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter)[2][6][7].
