**PCYT1B antisense RNA 1 (PCYT1B-AS1)** is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located on chromosome X (chrX:24650073-24658237, GRCh38), transcribed from the DNA strand opposite the protein-coding gene PCYT1B[3][7][9]. This lncRNA is categorized as an antisense RNA because it overlaps with the PCYT1B gene but does not code for a protein[6]. PCYT1B-AS1 has been described in gene annotation resources as important for glial cell lipid metabolism and myelination, suggesting a regulatory role in nervous system cell function[9]. There is currently no published evidence it is directly associated with major diseases, therapeutic drug targeting, or use as a clinical biomarker. PCYT1B-AS1 is not a protein target (such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter) and is not considered a classic drug target. Its molecular mechanism is likely via regulation of gene expression of nearby genes, particularly PCYT1B, possibly modulating phosphatidylcholine biosynthetic processes in the central nervous system.
