PDCL3 pseudogene 1 (PDCL3P1)

PDCL3 pseudogene 1 (PDCL3P1) is a processed pseudogene related to the phosducin-like 3 (PDCL3) encoding gene. Unlike the protein-coding parent gene, pseudogenes like PDCL3P1 typically lack functional protein products due to mutations or loss of regulatory elements. There is no strong evidence that PDCL3P1 itself produces protein or functions as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or participates in key biological functions or disease processes. Pseudogenes are generally "dead" genes; most lack the ability to code for functional proteins. Most scientific and clinical interest centers on the protein-coding parent gene PDCL3, which has been implicated as a novel oncogene and biomarker in glioma, and not on its pseudogenes. Therefore, PDCL3P1 is not considered a target for drugs, therapeutic monitoring, or clinical intervention.
