Overview

PDCL3 pseudogene 3 (PDCL3P3) is a pseudogene sequence related to the Phosducin-like 3 gene (PDCL3). Pseudogenes are genomic elements that resemble functional genes but are typically non-coding due to disabling mutations or truncations in their sequences. The PDCL3P3 pseudogene is not documented to produce a functional protein or to be implicated as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or disease gene. Unlike its parent gene (PDCL3), which encodes a chaperone involved in G-protein signaling, apoptosis, and protein folding, PDCL3P3 has no known protein product or biological function because pseudogenes are, by definition, generally nonfunctional remnants of evolutionary gene duplication or retrotransposition[4]. There is no evidence in the literature or biological databases that PDCL3P3 is clinically or therapeutically relevant.
