Overview

PDE9A antisense RNA 1 (PDE9A-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the antisense DNA strand opposite the protein-coding PDE9A gene. Antisense RNAs generally regulate gene expression by influencing transcription, RNA stability, or translation of the sense gene, in this case potentially modulating PDE9A mRNA or protein levels. However, there is no published functional characterization of PDE9A-AS1, nor any evidence for its therapeutic targeting, disease association, biomarker utility, or pharmacological modulation. The functional effects of antisense RNAs are diverse, including cis or trans-regulation, but there is no evidence to personalize these to PDE9A-AS1 itself.
