Overview

PDYN antisense RNA 1 (PDYN-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the antisense strand of the prodynorphin gene locus. Antisense lncRNAs, like PDYN-AS1, can regulate their sense gene counterparts through a variety of mechanisms, including modification of chromatin state, transcriptional interference, and mRNA stability, often by forming double-stranded RNA intermediates[6]. While the detailed function and disease involvement of PDYN-AS1 itself are not fully characterized, analogous antisense lncRNAs are known to play roles in controlling gene expression in the nervous system and may be implicated in epigenetic regulation of neuropeptide gene transcription[1][5]. There is currently no information on PDYN-AS1 as a direct drug target, and no therapeutic interventions interact specifically with it.
