Overview

PDZ and LIM domain 1 pseudogene 1 (PDLIM1P1) is a genomic region homologous to the functional gene PDZ and LIM domain 1 (PDLIM1), but lacks the ability to produce a functional protein. PDLIM1P1 is classified as a pseudogene and is not used as a target for therapeutic interventions, drug development, or clinical biomarker applications. Unlike the parent PDLIM1, which is a cytoskeletal scaffolding protein involved in cell signaling, differentiation, and disease (especially cancer)[1][2][3], PDLIM1P1 does not contribute to cellular function or disease. PDLIM1, not PDLIM1P1, is the active gene sometimes discussed in cancer biology and cell function[1][2][3]. If information about the therapeutic target or disease involvement of the PDZ and LIM domain family is required, it should refer to PDZ and LIM domain protein 1 (PDLIM1), not the pseudogene PDLIM1P1.
