Overview

PDZ and LIM domain 1 pseudogene 4 (PDLIM1P4) is classified as a pseudogene—a non-functional segment of DNA that resembles the functional PDZ and LIM domain 1 gene but is unable to produce a functional protein product[2][3]. Pseudogenes like PDLIM1P4 do not participate directly in cellular signaling, metabolism, or other canonical biological functions as protein-coding genes do. However, PDLIM1P4 expression may be associated with malignancy or disease progression and can serve as a biomarker, for example, in multiple myeloma, where upregulation correlates with worse patient outcomes[1]. There is no evidence that PDLIM1P4 encodes a functional receptor, enzyme, or drug target, nor any indication of interacting drugs or known mechanisms of action.

Disease associations

Some studies list upregulation of PDLIM1P4 association with worse progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in multiple myeloma, indicating possible utility in cancer biology as a non-coding RNA biomarker rather than a therapeutic target[1].
03

Biomarkers

Possible biomarker for cancer progression (based on expression studies in multiple myeloma; high expression associated with worse PFS and OS)[1].
