Overview

PDZ and LIM domain protein 1 (PDLIM1) is a cytoplasmic protein that acts as an adapter/scaffold associated with the actin cytoskeleton, containing an N-terminal PDZ domain and a C-terminal LIM domain[3][2][1]. It organizes multi-protein complexes by linking actin and α-actinin to various signaling proteins and plays key roles in regulating stress fibers, cell polarity, and cell migration in fibroblasts[3][2][1]. Dysregulation or misexpression of PDLIM1 and related family members has been implicated in cancer progression, cardiovascular diseases, and defects in cell adhesion and migration[2][3]. PDLIM1 has also been suggested to modulate signal transduction by sequestering nuclear factors in the cytoplasm[2].
