Overview

PDZ domain containing 1 pseudogene 1 (PDZK1P1) is a human pseudogene related to the active scaffolding protein PDZK1. While the parent gene (PDZK1) encodes a regulatory adapter protein involved in plasma membrane protein localization and HDL receptor function, PDZK1P1 is predicted by sequence homology and genome annotation to be a non-protein-coding pseudogene[1][7][5]. Pseudogenes like PDZK1P1 may have regulatory roles through RNA transcripts affecting gene expression, including acting as microRNA sponges or encoding non-coding RNAs, but no specific biological or disease function is established for PDZK1P1 itself[4]. There is no evidence that PDZK1P1 is a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or biomarker in clinical or experimental medicine[1][4]. All aliases refer to gene model predictions or alternative annotation identifiers; none is a canonical protein target.
