Overview

Pecanex-like protein 2 (PCNX2) is a protein-coding gene found in humans, characterized by the presence of coding mononucleotide repeats and associations with tumors exhibiting high microsatellite instability (MSI-H), especially colorectal cancer. It may act as a competitive endogenous RNA regulating the oncogenic protein Skp2, influencing cell cycle progression, proliferation, and apoptosis in non-small cell lung cancer cell models. Other aliases include KIAA0435, PCNXL2, and Pecanex homolog 2. There is no evidence for direct clinical targeting as a receptor, enzyme, or other classic drug target class. There are no known small molecule or biologic drugs that directly interact with PCNX2. Its mutation or dysregulation may contribute to tumorigenesis in certain cancer types, but it has not been validated as a clinical biomarker or therapy target to date.
