Overview

Pecanex-like protein 4 (PCNX4) is a predicted transmembrane protein encoded by the PCNX4 gene, located in humans on chromosome 14 (C14orf135). It has several paralogs, most notably PCNX3, and is sometimes referred to as "HCV F protein-binding protein 2" due to reported protein-protein interactions with Hepatitis C virus F protein in large-scale screens, but its role in viral life cycle or pathogenesis has not been functionally explored. Expression is noted in various tissues including cancer tissue, with mRNA and protein profiles cataloged in The Cancer Genome Atlas and Human Protein Atlas, but no mechanistic or functional data is yet available. There are no established disease roles, interacting drugs, or validated functional biology.
