Peptidase inhibitor 15 (PI15)

Target
PI15
Molecular classification
Protease inhibitor, Serine protease inhibitor, Cysteine-rich secretory protein (CRISP) family
01

Overview

Peptidase inhibitor 15 (PI15) is a serine peptidase/protease inhibitor with weak activity against trypsin, encoded by the PI15 gene on human chromosome 8[2][3][7][9]. It shares similarity with insect venom allergens, mammalian testis-specific proteins, and plant pathogenesis-related proteins[2][3]. It is notably expressed in neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell lines, and it may play roles both in protease regulation and in development, such as facial patterning[2][3][4][9]. Emerging evidence suggests potential utility as a biomarker in cancers like cholangiocarcinoma[8].
