Overview

Peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase A-like 4E (PPIAL4E) is a predicted cyclophilin-like protein, part of the peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase (PPIase) family, which modulates protein folding by catalyzing the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds. Its function is deduced mainly from studies of the well-characterized Cyclophilin A (PPIA), which plays roles in intracellular signaling, transcription, inflammation, apoptosis, and cell proliferation. PPIAL4E is predicted to have similar enzymatic activity and is active in the cytoplasm. No direct evidence defines its biological function or disease relevance; most roles are extrapolated from PPIase family data. As such, PPIAL4E is not considered a canonical drug target, has no established interacting drugs or mechanisms, and is not used as a clinical biomarker. Further research is required to confirm its functional and disease-related significance.
