Overview

Peptidylprolyl isomerase A pseudogene 11 (PPIAP11) is a human pseudogene that is homologous to the *peptidylprolyl isomerase A* (PPIA) gene, but sequence changes render it unable to encode a functional protein product. Like other pseudogenes, its primary biological activity is thought to occur at the RNA level, although there is no experimentally validated role for PPIAP11 specifically. Some pseudogenes in the PPIA family (not PPIAP11) have been implicated as regulatory long non-coding RNAs, but PPIAP11 has not been the focus of studies associating it with pathogenic or regulatory roles in disease. It is not considered a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any conventional drug target class. If therapeutic or biological relevance is required for drug development or clinical application, another target must be selected.
