Peptidylprolyl isomerase A pseudogene 30 (PPIAP30) is a pseudogene related to the functional gene Peptidylprolyl isomerase A (PPIA, also known as cyclophilin A)[7][2][1]. Pseudogenes are genetic sequences that resemble known protein-coding genes but have accumulated mutations (such as stop codons or frameshifts) that render them nonfunctional for protein production[6][3][9]. PPIAP30 does not encode a functional enzyme and has no demonstrated biological activity—it is one of several processed pseudogenes derived from the PPIA gene[2]. Unlike PPIA, which catalyzes protein folding and participates in immune regulation and viral replication, PPIAP30 has no known protein product and is not considered a therapeutic target or disease-related gene. There are no known drugs, biomarkers, or direct safety concerns associated with PPIAP30. It is catalogued for purposes of genome annotation and comparative genomics, with its only established role being as a reference in pseudogene studies.
