Peptidylprolyl isomerase A pseudogene 38 (PPIAP38) is classified as a processed pseudogene related to the parental gene peptidylprolyl isomerase A (PPIA), also known as cyclophilin A. Pseudogenes are non-functional segments of DNA that resemble functional genes but typically do not produce functional proteins. While some pseudogenes, particularly those expressed as long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), can have regulatory roles in gene expression, there is no current evidence associating PPIAP38 with protein function, disease, or therapeutic targeting[3].
