Peptidylprolyl isomerase A pseudogene 62 (PPIAP62) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome, annotated in public databases (HGNC: 53686, NCBI Gene: 101928610, Ensembl: ENSG00000226473). Pseudogenes like PPIAP62 are typically segments of DNA that resemble known genes but contain mutations or deletions that prevent them from producing a functional protein. While some pseudogenes can have regulatory or noncoding RNA functions, there is currently no evidence that PPIAP62 independently acts as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or regulator in human disease, nor that it encodes a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor. Additionally, no drugs are known to interact with PPIAP62, and it is not associated with notable safety, toxicity, or biomarker considerations relevant to clinical development. For reference, the parental gene, Peptidylprolyl isomerase A (PPIA), also known as cyclophilin A, is a functional protein implicated in various cellular processes and disease contexts. Some related pseudogenes, such as PPIAP22, have reported RNA-mediated regulatory roles in cancer, but there is currently no evidence for such a role for PPIAP62 specifically.
