Peptidylprolyl isomerase A pseudogene 64 (PPIAP64) is a pseudogene of the peptidylprolyl isomerase A (PPIA) family, found in the human genome. Unlike its functional parental gene PPIA (which encodes cyclophilin A, a key enzyme in protein folding and immunoregulation), PPIAP64 does not produce a functional protein and is generally considered to have no biological or therapeutic function. Pseudogenes like PPIAP64 are non-coding segments of DNA that may arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and usually lack the capacity to encode functional proteins. There is no evidence that PPIAP64 serves as a drug target, biomarker, or has a role in disease. All available references and databases (GeneCards, BioGPS) confirm its classification as a non-coding pseudogene. PPIAP64 itself is not a valid therapeutic or research target.
