Peptidylprolyl isomerase A pseudogene 74 (PPIAP74) is a noncoding pseudogene in the human genome that is highly homologous to the functional gene peptidylprolyl isomerase A (PPIA), also known as cyclophilin A. Pseudogenes like PPIAP74 do not produce a functional protein product due to disabling mutations such as frameshifts or premature stop codons[4]. They may sometimes be transcribed as non-coding RNAs, but PPIAP74 itself has no defined biological role, target activity, or association with human disease[1][5]. Pseudogenes can occasionally influence regulation of their parental genes via non-coding RNA mechanisms, but there are no data indicating that PPIAP74 exerts any such regulatory effect[2]. It is not considered a therapeutic target, biomarker, or molecule with any direct pharmacological relevance.
