Periodontal ligament fibroblast

Periodontal ligament fibroblast is a specific type of fibroblast cell found within the connective tissue of the periodontal ligament, which anchors teeth to the surrounding alveolar bone. These cells are vital for the development, maintenance, and regeneration of periodontal tissue. Periodontal ligament fibroblast is a specialized fibroblast found in the periodontal ligament—the connective tissue between the tooth cementum and alveolar bone. These cells are responsible for the production and maintenance of the ligament’s extracellular matrix, especially collagen, aiding in tooth attachment, bone remodeling, and tissue regeneration.
