Periradicular tissue regeneration refers to the biological processes and clinical strategies aimed at restoring the tissues surrounding the root of a tooth—particularly the bone, periodontal ligament, and related connective tissues—following damage due to infection, apical surgery, trauma, or periodontal disease. This is not a discrete molecule or receptor but encompasses regenerative techniques such as the application of guided tissue regeneration (GTR) membranes, bone grafts, and growth factors to facilitate healing and regeneration of periradicular structures. These techniques are used to optimize the environment for tissue healing, block undesirable cell types (e.g., epithelial cells) from populating healing sites, and promote proliferation and differentiation of bone- and ligament-forming cells. The goal of periradicular tissue regeneration is clinical and radiographic restoration of health and support to affected teeth[1][4][5][6].
