Target intelligence / Profile preview
Peroxiredoxin 1 pseudogene 1 (PRDX1P1) is a non-protein-coding genomic locus located in the human genome with sequence similarity to the peroxiredoxin 1 (PRDX1) gene, which encodes a thiol-specific antioxidant enzyme important in cellular protection against oxidative stress[3]. As a pseudogene, PRDX1P1 does not produce a functional protein and is not considered a drug target, receptor, enzyme, or a participant in known signaling pathways. Its alias "thiol-specific antioxidant 2" is ambiguous and more appropriately applied to active peroxiredoxins rather than the pseudogene[3]. No disease associations, drug interactions, or biological functions have been documented for PRDX1P1. The use of this pseudogene as a biological or therapeutic target is not supported by the current scientific literature.
