Peroxiredoxin 2 pseudogene 2 (PRDX2P2) is a nonfunctional DNA sequence in the human genome that closely resembles the gene encoding peroxiredoxin 2, an antioxidant enzyme. PRDX2P2 is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it has lost the ability to code for a functional protein due to mutations or lack of necessary regulatory elements. While some pseudogenes can occasionally regulate gene expression by acting as sources of regulatory RNAs or microRNA decoys, there is currently no evidence that PRDX2P2 fulfills such a role. It is not considered a molecular target in therapeutic or diagnostic contexts.
