Peroxisomal biogenesis factor 11 alpha (PEX11A)

Peroxisomal biogenesis factor 11 alpha (PEX11A) is a peroxisomal membrane protein that is part of the PEX11 family, which is crucial for the proliferation and maintenance of peroxisomes, the cellular organelles responsible for various metabolic functions including fatty acid β-oxidation and lipid biosynthesis[2][4][6]. PEX11A promotes peroxisomal division primarily by remodeling and elongating the peroxisomal membrane and is involved in protein-protein interactions at the peroxisome, such as binding to other peroxisomal proteins[1][2][3][5].
