Target intelligence / Profile preview
Peroxisomal membrane protein 2 (PXMP2) is an integral membrane protein in the peroxisomal membrane that forms non-selective aqueous channels for small solute diffusion. It restricts passage of larger metabolites and is essential for peroxisomal metabolic compartmentalization and solute exchange. PXMP2 is highly expressed in peroxisome-rich tissues and, while dispensable for hydrogen peroxide flux under normal conditions, contributes to overall membrane permeability and function[2][1][3].
