Overview

PGM5P4 antisense RNA 1 (PGM5P4-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) with a length of 950 base pairs, transcribed in an antisense orientation relative to the PGM5P4 gene. It acts as a tumor suppressor in various cancers; notably, it is downregulated in lung, liver, rectal, and breast cancers. Overexpression of PGM5P4-AS1 can inhibit cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and can suppress tumor growth in vivo. Mechanistically, PGM5P4-AS1 functions as a ceRNA (competing endogenous RNA), binding miR-1275 and promoting LZTS3 expression, which has anti-cancer activity. It is implicated as a potential biomarker for cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and may have future therapeutic utility[1][2][3].
