PGR antisense RNA 1 (PGR-AS1) is a long intergenic non-coding RNA transcribed from the plus strand of chromosome 11, overlapping the region of the progesterone receptor (PGR) gene. It is classified as a lincRNA with no protein-coding capacity, consisting of three exons and spanning approximately 429 base pairs. Its main biological feature is its antisense relationship with the PGR gene, which may enable it to regulate PGR expression at the transcriptional or post-transcriptional level—a general role observed in antisense RNAs. To date, no specific functional studies or disease roles have been well established for PGR-AS1, and no drugs or biomarkers have been linked to it. It is not a conventional therapeutic target, and its molecular function and clinical relevance remain largely unexplored[1][5][7].
