Target intelligence / Profile preview
A phagocyte stimulant is any molecule or agent that enhances the activity of phagocytes—cells of the immune system responsible for ingesting and destroying pathogens, foreign particles, and dead or dying cells. These stimulants act by increasing the efficiency or rate at which phagocytes perform their core functions: engulfment, production of reactive oxygen species, secretion of cytokines, and antigen presentation.
Activates surface receptors on phagocytes, leading to intracellular signaling cascades that enhance engulfment, killing, and antigen presentation.
